National Certificate(Vocational) Building and Civil Construction: Plumbing

About this programme:
The National Certificate (Vocational) offers Grade 9 learners a vocational alternative to an academic Grade 10-12 by offering specialised training on NQF levels 2-4.
If you would like to qualify with a specialised NQF level 4 certificate that will enable you to find relevant employment once qualified, the National Certificate (Vocational) is for you.
How is the programme structured?
The National Certificate (Vocational) is a three year qualification made up of three certificates obtained on NQF Levels 2, 3 and 4.
All National Certificate (Vocational) programmes consist of a fundamentals learning component and a vocational component and comprise 130 credits on each level.

Construction Planning ( Levels 2,3,4)
Construction Planning focuses on the construction and building environment and deals with the reading and interpretation of drawings and the production of freehand drawings. Students learn to identify symbols and specifications in drawings to determine information for setting out and identifying material types to use in construction projects. Students also calculate quantities and perform costing.
Plant and Equipment (Levels 2,3)
Plant and Equipment train's students to identify, operate, use and maintain building and civil construction machinery equipment. It also informs students on the health and safety regulations designed for each of the various machines.
Materials (Levels 2,3,4)
Materials provides training to students in construction materials, construction activities and construction processes. It equips students to become part of the mainstream construction industry.
Masonry ( Levels 2,3,4)
Masonry provides training to students in construction masonry activities and in construction processes. It equips students to become part of the mainstream construction industry.
Plumbing (Levels 2,3,4)
In Plumbing, students acquire the skills to install sanitary fittings, water piping to buildings and sewerage systems.
Supervision (Level 4 only)
Supervision provides training to students on supervisory activities and functions, such as planning, leading, monitoring, controlling, organising and motivating, to ensure that work is productive in accordance with the requirements of the Civil Engineering and Building Construction industry.
What are the entrance requirements?
The minimum entrance requirement for the National Certificate (Vocational) at Level 2 on the NQF is a Grade 9 Certificate or Level 1 equivalent.
