NB: NSFAS Travel Allowance
New students who qualify for bursaries, may apply for a NSFAS Travel allowance, as follows:
1. N1 students currently enrolled in Trimester 2. There applications must be completed and handed in to your financial aid office by no later than Monday 24 July.
2. All N4 bursary applicants can apply for transport if they meet the necessary criteria.
3. All new T3 students who qualify for bursaries may also apply for transport.
Transport is only for bursary applicants living further than 5 kms from the campus.

To Apply for a NSFAS Bursary

Please read carefully.  Online application forms without ALL supporting documents will not be processed by NSFAS.
NSFAS requires that you provide a cell phone number and an email address so that NSFAS can communicate with you during the application process, and to inform you of the outcome of your application.

If you are a student with a disability, you must complete an additional form, available on the NSFAS website, and will be required to provide a medical certificate in support of your disability condition.

Who can apply?

  • NSFAS Bursaries are available to applicants who want to apply to study NC(V) or NATED N1-N6 programmes.
  • All new applications (matriculants) must download an application form (www.nsfas.org.za)
  • All students who were previously funded by NSFAS and are not funded in 2017 must apply online
  • All students who have signed their Schedule of Particulars (SOP) for 2017 and are currently receiving NSFAS funding DO NOT HAVE TO REAPPLY.
    Funding will be granted provided the funded student meets the NSFAS academic requirements.
  • All funded NSFAS applicants are requested to update their information online. Please log onto www.nsfas.org.za and create the MyNSFAS account to verify your details.

How do I apply?

All new applicants must download an application form from www.nsfas.org.za. Make sure that you have scanned in copies of the following documents:

  • Certified copy of a valid South African Identity Document/ card.
  • Certified copy of unabridged birth certificate (If you do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card) if you are under 18 years old.
  • Certified copy of ID of each household member including parents or legal guardian.
  • Certified copy of a valid Senior Certificate (If you have completed Grade 12).
  • Certified copy of the latest academic results or record on official letterheads or logo (if you are already at a TVET college). If you intend to register at a TVET college for a degree or diploma in 2017, and you are not a student at any of the institution, you must submit a midyear academic transcript or exam results.
  • A copy of your proof of residence (see the checklist at the end for more information and examples of suitable documents).

FUNDI is a private finance company that exclusively focuses on educational finance, assisting people who are not able to pay on their own, or the studies of their dependents, and who do not qualify for traditional financing through the formal banking sector or government aid schemes.

Access Trust is a bursary fund assisting TVET colleges with full-time N2-N6, Level 2 to Level 4 courses in all disciplines, and engineering practicals. Bursaries cover class and registration fees only, and are non-repayable.

·         Two Certified copies of Your ID or Birth certificate (if under 18 years old.)

·         1x Certified Identity document for all members of your household i.e of parents or guardian,  siblings etc.

·         Certified proof of income for your parent(s) or Legally appointed guardian (e.g. Proof of social grant, latest salary pay slip, DELETE affidavit stating what they are earning, affidavit if unemployed or self-employed).

·         Certified copy of death certificate(s) of parent(s) and or legal guardian if deceased.

·         Banking details (on page 4 of application form). Parent/guardian must co-sign.

·         Travel route and cost of transport method used i.e. taxi, bus or train. No private vehicle funding is permitted.

·         New students: Latest high school results
