To Apply for a DHET NSFAS Bursary

Please read carefully.  Online application forms without ALL supporting documents will not be processed by NSFAS.
NSFAS requires that you provide a cell phone number or an email address so that NSFAS can communicate with you during the application process, and to inform you of the outcome of your application.

If you are a student with a disability, you must complete an additional form, available on the NSFAS website, and will be required to provide a medical certificate in support of your disability condition.

Who can apply?

  • DHET NSFAS Bursaries are available to applicants who want to apply to study NC(V) or NATED N1-N6 programmes.
  • All new applications (matriculants) must be submitted directly to NSFAS nline (www.nsfas.org.za)
  • Students who have never received NSFAS funding must apply online
  • All students who were previously funded by NSFAS and are not funded in 2016 must apply online
  • All students who have signed their Loan Agreement Forms (LAF) or Schedule of Particulars (SOP) for 2016 and are currently receiving NSFAS funding DO NOT HAVE TO REAPPLY.
    Funding will be granted provided the funded student meets the NSFAS academic requirements.
  • All funded NSFAS students are requested to update their information online. Please log onto www.nsfas.org.za and create the MyNSFAS account to verify your details.

Already submitted NSFAS Application Form to a University or TVET college?

Matriculants who have already submitted their NSFAS applications before 01 August 2016 to any university or TVET college must not reapply. The institution will send your application directly to NSFAS Head Office.

How do I apply?

All new applicants must register on www.nsfas.org.za and create a MyNSFAS account. Make sure that you have scanned in copies of the following documents:

  • Certified copy of a valid South African Identity Document/ card.
  • Certified copy of unabridged birth certificate (If you do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card)
  • Certified copy of ID of each household member including parents or legal guardian.
  • Certified copy of a valid Senior Certificate (If you have completed Grade 12).
  • Certified copy of the latest academic results or record on official letterheads or logo (if you are already at a university or TVET college). If you intend to register at any university or TVET college for a degree or diploma in 2017, and you are not a student at any of the institution, you must submit a midyear academic transcript or exam results.
  • A copy of your proof of residence (see the checklist at the end for more information and examples of suitable documents).

ACCESS TRUST (PREVIOUSLY CALLED TECSAT)
Access Trust is a bursary fund assisting TVET colleges with full-time N2-N6, Level 2 to Level 4 courses in all disciplines, and engineering practicals. Bursaries cover class and registration fees only, and are non-repayable.

·         Two Certified copies of Your ID or Birth certificate (if under 18 years old.)

·         1x Certified Identity document for all members of your household i.e of parents or guardian,  siblings etc.

·         Certified proof of income for your parent(s) or Legally appointed guardian (e.g. Proof of social grant, latest salary pay slip, DELETE affidavit stating what they are earning, affidavit if unemployed or self-employed).

·         Certified copy of death certificate(s) of parent(s) and or legal guardian if deceased.

·         Banking details (on page 4 of application form). Parent/guardian must co-sign.

·         Travel route and cost of transport method used i.e. taxi, bus or train. No private vehicle funding is permitted.

·         New students: Latest high school results
