Funded Programmes and Learnerships

The following programme offerings are a collaboration between the College and various members of industry. The entry requirements are determined by the industry stakeholder, including the application deadline.

EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT AND PUBLIC WORKS
The Western Cape Government (WCG) Department of Transport and Public Works is inviting suitably qualified applicants residing in the Cape Metro to apply for trade learnership training opportunities in the Construction Industry. Learnerships entail: Undergoing theoretical and practical training at a public or private TVET college; working on a building site; applying health and safety regulations; maintaining work areas; and undertaking administrative tasks.

PLUMBING (Ref. PCM)
MASONRY (BRICKLAYING) (Ref. MCM)
ELECTRICAL WIRING (Ref. ECM)
CARPENTRY (Ref. CCM)
Minimum requirements: • Between 18 and 34 years old • Resident of South Africa

•Plumbing Learnership applications: Grade 10 or TVET [technical vocational and educational training] equivalent with a pass in Mathematics Literacy
• Masonry Learnership applications: Grade 10 or TVET equivalent with a pass in Mathematics Literacy.
• Electrical Wiring Learnership applications: Grade 11 or TVET equivalent with a pass in Mathematics Literacy.
• Carpentry Learnership applications: Grade 10 or TVET equivalent with a pass in Mathematics Literacy.

Other requirements:
• Applicants must enjoy good health and be willing to undergo a medical and substance abuse examination.
• Applicants must be willing to participate in an interview, and undergo numeracy, literacy and interest testing.
• Successful applicants will be required to work on a construction site as part of the learnership process.
• Successful applicants must be willing to travel and work at various building sites in the Western Cape.
• Successful applicants will be required to sign a 12-month Learnership Agreement.

Stipend: R2 000 per month for the duration of the Learnership Agreement.

Application forms are available from your local library, Thusong Centre or E-Centre.
Applicants must clearly indicate the learnership being applied for and the reference code.
Applications must include a CV (no more than 4 pages) together with certified copies of ID and highest education certificate.
Only fully completed application forms with all required documentation will be considered.

Volvo Group Southern Africa is offering an apprenticeship  program starting in 2019. Our Dealer in Cape Town has been given the opportunity to take on 2 learners to join this program.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
• Completed N2 qualification (minimum) with subjects:
• Diesel Trade Theory
• Engineering Drawing
• Mathematics
• Engineering Science
• All subjects passed with a minimum of 50%

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW:
• Duration of Apprenticeship – 48 Months starting in March 2019
• Monthly remuneration package with compulsory benefits
• Fixed term contract for the duration of the Apprenticeship Programme

Programme: WCED Youth Focus Programmes: Spray Painting, Panel Beating and Hospitality
Description:

The Western Cape Education Department has partnered with False Bay TVET College to roll out the Youth Focus Programme.  This intervention is targetted towards Grade 10 learners who are struggling with the mainstream schooling curriculum and run the risk of not progressing to the next grade.

This is a 3 year programme. Each of the 3 levels will consist of an average of 3 months theory and 9 months practical experience in the workplace. Upon the completion of the programme and passing of each Level Test learners will receive their qualification, deemed fit for immediate permanent employment.

Programme: NSF: Solar Water Heating System
Description:

False Bay TVET College in partnership with the National Skills Fund invite unemployed youth between the age of 18-35 with a Grade 11 or 12 certificate to apply. The programme will take 10 weeks to complete and you will have the necessary skills and knowledge to instal solar water heating systems.

Grade 11 or 12
Umemployed as you would need to start training immediately
Between 18-35 years of age

Description:
