National Certificate: Hospitality and Catering Services N4 - N6

The Catering and Hospitality industry is fast paced and stressful, but at the same time very rewarding, when you are able to see the gratitude on your clients face after doing a good job.

The further you go up the corporate ladder, the more freedom you will be given to be creative in your culinary skills.

Catering and Hospitality is a growing sector, often closely linked with the tourism sector, which is based on the hotels, conference and restaurant successes. There are numerous opportunities, and with the correct qualifications, you could be cooking lunch for the President, serving a celebrity or helping a couple achieve their dream wedding reception.

Admission requirements:

Grade 12 Certificate
A National N Diploma in Hospitality and Catering Services is awarded on successful completion of the full programme.
Each level takes 6 Months full time to complete (total of 18 months to complete the theory) and then 18 months practical in industry. Generally it takes 3 years to qualify for a National Diploma.
Course Content:
Students complete three certificates (N4-N6) and 18 months of in-service training, at the end of which a Diploma in Hospitality and Catering Services is awarded if the student has met all of the relavant criteria. The course structure is laid out so that you can follow a stream that suites your requirement. The subjects for the various streams are as follows:

Nutrition and Menu Planning N4
Sanitation and Safety N4
Applied Management N5
Catering (Theory and Practical) N5
Food and Beverage Service N5
Entrepreneurship and Business Management N4
Applied Management N6
Catering (Theory and Practical) N5
Communication and Human Relations N6
Introductory Computer Practice N4 or
Computer Practice N4
