You qualify for admission if you passed grade 12 (matric) or have previous catering experience.

Students are trained in the following:

  • Food preparation and cooking across the full range
  • Knife skills
  • Food service (e.g. how to set tables and serve food)
  • Menu planning, recipes and recipe costing
  • Basic entrepreneurial skills (including marketing and costing)
  • Introductory computer skills (spreadsheets and word processing)
  • Generic essentials such as personal health, hygiene and workplace safety
  • First Aid
  • Waitroning

Qualification
On successful completion students obtain a Certificate in Professional Cookery.
